Hello my name is Tammy Hopkinson I am the mother of three wonderful children. Melissa, 11 she loves to sing, and talk to everyone she meets. Sometimes I think that she knows just about everyone in this town. Bryson, 9 who is a very talented boy, loves to draw, and play music.  He is a very shy boy sometimes or when he wants to be.  My youngest son is Dakota, 7 who is my miracle baby because I went into pre term labor at 4 months and even the doctor’s did not think that I would make it through the pregnancy. Dakota was born 6 days after the September 11th attack and a year after my grandparents past away. I have a wonderful husband who takes really great care of my older two children from my previous marriage.  My family is what keeps me motivated in pursuing my dreams that I have for my future. 

I am currently working for Waffle House working in Pensacola, Florida we have recently moved here to take care of family. The previous position that I had was with the Tennessee Department of Human Services as an Eligibility clerk a position that I was recommended for by one of my mentor’s Linda Hampton Parker. She has been there for me through it all just like my family and I do consider her to be a person that I could call mom because she has my best interest at heart. In about eight or nine months I will be going to Georgia because the town that I live in does not have that many jobs, and the unemployment rate is very high right now. The Waffle House that I am working at right now is a corporate  store which has great benefits.

Education when I was going to high school did not impress me all that much as well as with other people that I know. I dropped out of high school in 1994 which was a really bad move on my part as I realize this now.  So finally in 2004 I decided to go get my GED so that I would be able to get into college my daughter graduated kindergarten the same day that I graduated with my GED. Around the last few months of 2004 I had to have a surgery that put me out of work for six weeks. So I started to apply at several colleges and was very excited to get accepted into college. I have now accomplished getting an Associate’s and Bachelor’s in Business Management.  So I decided to go with a Master’s in Business Administration/accounting with more concentration on owning my own business. I am now homeschooling my children and so far they are loving being home with mommy and daddy.

My dream is to one day have a coffee shop/gift shop which would be something that I could leave to my children when I am gone away from this world. In my opinion our children will be the ones that will have the hardest time making ends meet so I want to make sure that my children are taken care of when I am gone. This is not the only thing that I would like to do with my life there are other things that I would like to accomplish especially after completing this degree I plan on pursuing my education into a doctorate degree but have not decided what field of study I would like to achieve.
